… but if you are, it helps.
“You don’t have to be mad to work here,
but if you are — it helps.”
That sign is on the wall to the right of my computer. Although my workplace is not exactly mad – working at the computer, in my study, with a view of green meadows, forests and fields: my favourite work -is- a little bit mad. Or at least it demands to abandon the way you normally look at people and the world now and again.
The work I’m talking about? Writing, most of all fantasy stories.
At the moment I’m working on a manuscript of an “alternate mythology” novel about the fate of Atlantis. In English, by the way, which is also why this blog will be written partly in German and partly in English. I’ll always try to post translations, but when that did not work out and you would like to have this or that bit translated, just leave a comment and I’ll do my best to break down language barriers with a belated translation.
Maybe a few words about who I am: the card for my inner being in tarot is the magician, a card that represents the will, the wisdom and the words to create worlds. I definitely have the will to create fantastical worlds with my words. How wise that is, remains to be seen.
I wrote my first stories as soon as I could write, on small yellow flashcards. By now I’m thirty, trained as a lawyer, with a degree in political sciences and history — and I’m still writing. Sometimes short stories, sometimes long stories, sometimes in German, sometimes in English.
Apart from that I’m married with two cats, and live in a small village in Franconia.
